Menu Setup

Your menu drives everything — POS, Kitchen Display, and online ordering all pull from it. Spend a few minutes setting it up properly and you'll save time every service.

Categories

Categories organise your menu into sections. Go to Menu → Categories and click Add Category.

  • Give each category a clear name customers and staff will recognise (e.g. Starters, Grills, Pasta, Soft Drinks, Cocktails).
  • Categories appear in the POS item picker in the order you create them — drag to reorder.

Items

Go to Menu → Items and click Add Item.

  • Name — what appears on the POS screen and on receipts.
  • Category — the section this item belongs to.
  • Price — the selling price (inclusive or exclusive of tax depending on your Settings).
  • Description — optional, shown on the online ordering page.
  • Available — toggle off to temporarily hide an item from the POS (e.g. sold out today) without deleting it.
  • Image — optional photo, shown in online ordering.
Tip: Use the Import wizard to bulk-upload your full menu from a CSV file. Go to Import → Menu Items to get started. See Import.

Modifier Groups

Modifiers handle item options — cooking preference, extras, size, sides. Go to Menu → Modifier Groups.

  1. Click Add Group. Give it a name (e.g. "Cooking Preference", "Extras", "Sauce").
  2. Set Min and Max selections — e.g. Min 1 / Max 1 forces a single choice; Min 0 / Max 5 makes it optional and allows multiple.
  3. Add the individual options (e.g. Rare, Medium, Well Done) with any price adjustment (0.00 if free).
  4. Go back to the item and click Assign Modifiers to attach the group to the relevant items.

When a cashier adds an item that has modifier groups, Wiri prompts them to select before adding to the order.

Managing Availability

If a dish runs out during service, go to Menu → Items, find the item, and toggle Available off. It disappears from the POS immediately without affecting past sales records. Toggle it back on when it's available again.

Tip: You can also mark items unavailable directly from the POS screen by long-pressing an item tile.
